DAVID WALCOTT’S DEBUT ALBUM 2008

JAMBUSTIN
Or busting a jam.  A jam could refer to a dance, a party, a stage performance, musicians hanging out, or people shopping in a busy city centre.  But in Barbados, it refers to a complicated highway manoeuvre for going around a roundabout!

Jambustin’ is the title and also the title track of David Walcott’s debut album.  David leads a young brigade of Barbadian musicians as he revolutionises the sound of steel pan.  The album fuses non- traditional Jazz and Caribbean elements, creating a new sound for his instrument.

Our own Holder’s Studio provided the environment for the creation of several of the tracks on the album.  In fact, the song “Smile” was composed while David was on one of the Holder’s Goes to London promotional tours.

One music critic has described David as a remarkable musician, who plays with great sensitivity, virtuoso technique and full command of the challenging instrument.   Playing the tenor pan from the age of thirteen, David has honed his talent and is now regarded as one of the better tenor Pannist in the Caribbean.

David has created a fresh feeling in his music, giving us very memorable melodies.  The album has something for everyone.
